The Phoenix Project
Supports young men aged 11-18 living in Fylde, Wyre and Lancaster districts who are self-harming or engaging in self destructive behaviour.
If you find that you are harming yourself in anyway, we would like to help.
Harming comes in many forms such as cutting, burning, scratching, hair pulling or over or under eating. Self-harming can be triggered by any number of things such as bullying, abuse, relationship difficulties, bereavement, sexuality, low self esteem, body image as well as overwhelming feelings such as sadness, anger and upset. The triggers (or combination of triggers and feelings) are unique to everyone.
For some self-harming can be a way of gaining relief from strong emotions or coping with these emotions. It can also be a way to gain feelings of being in control or as a form of self punishment.
If you would like help to cope and understand your emotions differently and start to feel better, then please contact the team. We are a free and confidential service.
“I was welcomed to the project and I felt like I finally had a safety net, finally had someone who wanted to listen and made me feel like they understood everything I was going through”
Confidentiality
We aim to offer a confidential service which means we will not share information about you with other services or your family without your permission. However, there are exceptional circumstances which may arise in which we a required to break confidentiality. These circumstances are when:-
- An individual discloses information that raises concerns about their safety, or the safety of others ie if your life is at serious risk of harm or you or someone else are being harmed.
- An individual discloses information which must legally be disclosed as not doing so would be breaking the law, such as, an act of terrorism.
- An individual raises concerns about risks to a child or vulnerable adult.
In addition if you are under the age of 13 we would need to get parents/carer/guardian permission in order to support you however as our service is guided by the Fraser Guidelines, this means we can assess the ability of young people to consent to support without the consent or knowledge of their parent/carer.
If you have any worries or questions about confidentiality or data protection please click on the links below for our full policies or alternatively contact the project and we can discuss this with you.
